What Is The Difference Between Candela Exceed And Traditional Microneedling?

Candela Exceed is a micro-needling device that’s been FDA-approved for acne scars and wrinkles.

In many ways, Candela Exceed works exactly like any microneedling device. In fact, Candela has been a trusted name in the microneedling industry for over 50 years.

Nevertheless, Candela Exceed represents a leap forward.

How Traditional Microneedling Works

Traditional microneedling works by prompting the skin to produce collagen and elastin. The skin produces these substances naturally, but elastin and collagen levels naturally decline as we get older.

Fortunately, the skin produces these substances in response to damage. Microneedling offers a way to create “controlled damage” by using tiny, sterilized needles that go no more than 2 mm deep.

Traditional microneedling uses roughly 150 needles to create tiny wounds. As the skin produces collagen and elastin, fine lines smooth out, and the pits left by acne scars fill in. The traditional process could require up to eight treatments to achieve significant results.

What Candela Elevate Adds

Candela Elevate adds PRP therapy to the process. PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is created by taking a sample of your blood and pulling out the natural growth and healing factors that exist within that blood. Once the plasma is extracted, you have a powerful dose of the same factors that rush to a cut on your finger to grow new skin and muscle.

This concentrated dose of PRP allows your skin to receive a much higher dose of platelet-rich plasma than it would normally receive in response to damage. This prompts your body to produce new, youthful skin to fill in the micro-wounds that the Candela Elevate device creates.

In addition, Candela Elevate adds BENEV Exosome treatments to accelerate the transfer of growth factors throughout the skin.

Differences: The Needles

Candela Elevate uses fewer needles than traditional microneedling devices do. Where traditional devices use up to 150 needles, Candela Elevate uses only six.

The reduction in needles reduces inflammation, redness, and itchiness. The addition of PRP therapy means that Candela Elevate does not need to add nearly as many punctures to the skin to achieve dramatic and positive results.

Differences: Downtime

Traditional microneedling could leave a person with redness, itchiness, and discomfort up to 48 hours after the procedure.

Most people stop feeling any discomfort just a few hours after a Candela Elevate treatment and are totally fine the next day.

Differences: Results

It takes three to six months to see results from traditional microneedling. With Candela Exceed, you typically see results in just 12 weeks after only four treatments.

88% of people see significant improvements in acne scarring, and 90% see a significant reduction in wrinkles.
