Photofacial

What is a Photofacial?

Photofacial treatments reduce pigmented lesions, redness, and broken capillaries. Using the GentleMax Pro® device, unwanted melanin is absorbed by laser light, which breaks down the skin’s pigment in that area without damaging any of the surrounding tissue. Photofacial's are only safe on skin types 1-3 and some skin type 4's. If you do not qualify for a Photofacial we have other options we can discuss.

Usually by day 7 after treatment, your body’s own “clean up” system completely eliminates those shattered melanin particles. After this, there will be little or no trace of those spots or spidery veins you once had. The GentleMax Pro® Photofacial treatment also improves skin texture through collagen stimulation.

One treatment is very effective but sometimes additional treatments are needed. This service should be done in the winter and by someone that wears sunscreen daily for a couple weeks prior to treatment.

Post treatment, the dark spots will get darker and flake off usually within 7-10 days. Make-up is allowed after. Also a post treatment skincare is recommended for a week and available for purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the procedure take?
About 15-30 minutes or less, depending on the size and number of targeted areas
What is the recovery time?
There is no downtime from photo-rejuvenation with GentleMAX®.
How many treatments are needed for best results?
A series of 3-5 treatments is recommended spaced approximately 3-4 weeks apart. Immediately after the treatment, patients can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling. This usually lasts 2-24 hours, and can be soothed with ice packs. As the treatments progress sunspots will start to fade and blood vessels will appear less visible. Results can keep improving over time, as new collagen growth will stimulate more healthy layers of skin. Results are long-lasting and follow-up treatments can help maintain them even longer.
How should I care for my skin post-treatment?
It is very important to avoid sun exposure for one week after treatments to reduce the chance of sunburn, darkening of the skin or lightening of the skin. Use of gentle cleansers and a SPF 30 or higher is recommended during the entire course of treatment.
